TORONTO, June 4, 2007 - Carole Adriaans, Event Director for arts organization MusicaNoir, learned today that Ms.
Madikizela-Mandela has been denied access by the federal government to enter Canada
and will not be able to travel to Canada to attend the previously scheduled A Night in Soweto fundraising gala
concert and dinner to be held in Toronto on Tuesday, June 5 for MusicaNoir.
According to her office, Ms. Mandela was packed today and ready to travel to the airport with her daughter (Zindzi Mandela,
the daughter of Nelson Mandela and his former wife Winnie) when she was informed that her visa had been denied by the
Canadian Embassy in South Africa. Her staff reported that Ms. Mandela was devastated by the decision of the Canadian
government especially in light of the fact that Ms. Mandela was in New York City just two weeks ago accepting an award for
her work with AIDS and the Save Africa Concerts Foundation affiliated with the United Nations.
Although MusicaNoir is extremely disappointed that Ms Mandela was denied access to Canada, the gala will continue as planned
on Tuesday, June 5 th. MusicaNoir is pleased to announce special celebrity guest LeVar Burton an African-American
